In the midst of the great diversity of KEDS basic works for the main purpose - that of distributing quality electricity to consumers in the country, on the 11th floor of the company building, today the girls selected for the Girls TECH program, have started for the first time to hold their training in a sector other than that of energy, the Information Technology sector. 15 girls will be part of the Girls TECH program, which aims to advance them in the field of programming.

The training held by IT experts here at KEDS, started with Introduction to HTML, and will continue to be extended in the coming weeks to other programming languages, based on modules developed in accordance with international standards.
17-year-old Aulona Halilaj, together with her friend Qamile Elshani, also of the same age, and both of whom come from the municipality of Drenas, say that they are extremely happy to have been selected in the Girls TECH program, because they see their training at KEDS, as an exceptional opportunity for them to be trained in their field of interest.

They enthusiastically tell us that they have been interested in the field of programming from an early age and have tried to attend as many other informal courses as possible, in order to acquire as much experience as possible. They say that the previous training has helped them discover new perspectives through which they are seeing a future of work and development in Kosovo, while such perspectives expect to receive of course from the Girls TECH program.

While in our conversation was also mentioned the low participation of girls in the profession of programming, since for a long time this profession is considered to be only for men."We are the first programmer's girls from Drenas, the others are all boys," they say with pride, while both have a message for all young girls to pursue their dreams of study and vocational training,  and never let the limitations of the societal mentality stop them.

Alona says with full conviction: "No matter what others say, girls need to listen to themselves in order to succeed. When boys can master the programming profession, so can we. ”While Qamile Elshani also has some encouraging words to say for all young girls: "If you love a profession and you dedicate yourself to it, you achieve success, you just have to work and try hard in that direction, listening to yourself and having great confidence in yourself", she concludes. This is just the beginning of their career, but with such big dreams in front of them and such a mindset for work and development, these girls undoubtedly will one day be very successful in their profession.
