Driven by the desire to increase the employment opportunities of young people, as well as seeing the need to support the education system in Kosovo, in 2014 KEDS launched the KEDS Academy social responsibility program, achieving a record in the company and Kosovo with its continuity already a decade of the program.

The Kosovar Electricity Distribution Company (KEDS) carries out electricity distribution activities, therefore this program prepares qualified people for the energy sector in Kosovo. 57 students of the 10th generation continue their internship in the company, while 18 university students and 80 technical high school students follow in the 11th generation, increasing the total number of this generation to 98 participants.

In the 11th generation, we are partnering for the first time with the Center for Energy and Sustainability within the University of Pristina, where lectures with students will focus on interesting discussions about green processes for sustainability, alternative energies including renewable energy, the global situation regarding energy consumption and the challenges towards the energy transition.

While the technical part of the program with the students of vocational schools, they are holding trainings about safety, meter switching, as well as the operation of electrical assets and work with them in practice.

Over 600 students have graduated from the program while more than half of the graduates are now employed at KEDS and KESCO.

The KEDS Academy program is a successful project that aims to build a center of opportunity and support for the youth of Kosovo to stimulate them towards a brighter future in the energy sector and everywhere in their chosen professions.
