The capacities of the distribution network will be doubled, while most of the citizens of Prishtina will have alternative electricity supply. So when any breakdown occurs, they will move to the next line within seconds. This investment will solve Prishtina's energy problem for the next 30 years.

The Executive Director of KEDS, Mr. Alper Erbas, together with the mayor of Prishtina, Mr. Shpend Ahmeti, on Wednesday inspected the massive works that KEDS is doing in the city of Prishtina.
These are part of the megaproject that KEDS is implementing, which includes the renovation of the electricity network for the entire capital.

"Complete network of medium voltage and over 70 percent of low voltage, until next year will be placed underground. "After the completion of the works, 90 thousand out of 120 thousand customers of Prishtina will have alternative supply", said Mr. Erbas.

He announced that at the same time the distribution capacities will be doubled through the replacement of all cables, which will be new and with a capacity of 20 kV from 10 kV as they are now.

"Investments go to over 16 million euros. After the completion of these investments, I assure you that the electricity network in the capital will be modern and compatible with the most advanced European networks. Pristina will no longer need investments in the electricity distribution network for the next 30 years. The realization of these projects would not be possible without the close cooperation of the Municipality of Prishtina, for which I thank the mayor Ahmeti for the readiness ", added Mr. Erbas.

These investments were also welcomed by Mayor Ahmeti.

"We have a very good cooperation with KEDS. I thank the company and Mr. Erbas that intervene and respond to our requests consistently. I am extremely happy with this investment, as over 100 thousand customers of Prishtina will directly benefit ", said Mr. Ahmeti.

He is also pleased with the fact that the network will now be placed underground. "This also changes the appearance of the capital for the better. At the same time, the introduction of underground cables increases the security for the inhabitants of the capital, as well as their standard ", said Mr. Ahmeti.

These investments are a realization of KEDS 'commitment to be as close as possible to the citizens of Kosovo and to continuously improve services for them.

Today, 7 years later, KEDS has invested around 150 million euros and hundreds of thousands of customers have significantly better services and a better life. In addition to investments in Pristina, investments are being made in other parts of Kosovo.

KEDS remains committed to continuing this until the complete modernization of the distribution network.
