Over 100 Students and Pupils of KEDS Academy Are Attending Internships at KEDS
More than 100 pupils and students, as part of the KEDS Academy program, are currently attending their internships at KEDS. They are spread across different departments of the company and in all of its districts throughout Kosovo.
The students are mainly from the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the University of Prishtina, while the pupils come from Technical High Schools across Kosovo. They will have the opportunity to closely follow hands-on work in one of the largest energy companies in the country, gaining concrete technical and organizational knowledge.
The Director of the Department for Quality, Safety, and Environment at KEDS, Ms. Valbona Kadrijaj, emphasized the importance of this experience for young people.
“The students and pupils have already completed the training program and are now attending their professional internships. Starting from September, they will continue with the Internship program. Upon completion of the program, the students and pupils will be certified by KEDS Academy and the Center for Energy and Sustainability (CES) at the University of Prishtina. This experience not only prepares them for the job market but also makes them part of a sector that is critical for the country’s development,” she said.
The students are truly excited!
One of this year’s participants is Rea Zogëjani, who grew up in the village of Grabovc, just a few hundred meters from the coal mine and only a few kilometers from the power plants in Kastriot. Electricity has always been part of her life.
"Initially, I wanted to study education, but along the way, I changed my mind! I saw the perspective that electrical energy had. I wouldn’t go back—I’m very happy I chose this profession," says Rea, now a part of KEDS Academy. Together with her colleagues, she is witnessing how investments in the Electrical Network are made by KEDS. After this important segment, they will also explore how other sectors within the company operate, gaining a clear understanding of the practical functioning of one of the largest energy companies in the country.
This is the 12th season of KEDS Academy, a program launched shortly after the company began its operations. So far, hundreds of young people who have passed through this academy have been employed by the company, with some even reaching high-level managerial positions.
KEDS Academy remains the leading program when it comes to education under the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts. Having operated for many years, this program has established continuity and remains both unique and highly successful.
