KEDS has launched the implementation of its latest project aimed at replacing electricity meters—both mechanical and digital—for household consumers.

The reason for replacing these meters is that some consumers still have mechanical meters in their homes, while a significant number of others use digital meters that have a defined operational lifespan.

To carry out this project, KEDS has signed an agreement with a subcontractor that operates more than thirty teams across Kosovo to conduct the meter replacements.

These teams, which are replacing an average of 600 meters per day, are equipped with KEDS uniforms but are clearly identified as CONTRACTORS. KEDS calls for consumers' understanding and cooperation, asking them not to obstruct these authorized teams during the replacement process. In cases where meter replacement is refused, KEDS has also reached an agreement with the Kosovo Police for intervention when necessary.

After each meter is replaced, the consumer is issued an on-site report as proof of the replacement, which contains all relevant details about the new meter.
This meter replacement process is being implemented according to plan, which foresees the replacement of 100,000 units throughout this year, based on a list provided by KEDS to the contracted company and under the supervision of the relevant KEDS teams.

Replacing these meters is essential, as it ensures the continued accuracy of electricity consumption measurements, helping consumers monitor their expenses in real time.

This important project is based on the applicable energy laws, as well as on regulations and guidelines derived from them, and it will continue in the coming years until the full replacement of all meters is completed.
