To motivate the girls of our country to pursue a career in Information Technology, KEDS, within the KEDS Academy program, for the first time this year launches the program "Girls TECH", which was ideated by the director of the Department of Quality, Security and pieces of training at KEDS, Valbona Kadrijaj.

For ENERGY magazine she tells us more about the idea and implementation of the Girls TECH program.

"Deconstructing the prejudice that the fields of mathematics, natural sciences, and technology are not for girls and giving girls the opportunity to successfully enter a highly competitive but also demanded field, has been the driving idea for the implementation of the program for girls in technology, Girls TECH, ” says Mrs. Valbona.

Another reason why the ideators of the program have decided that this program will focus in the field of programming is the great flexibility that this field offers.

"Programming is a field that does not require large investment in equipment or workspace. Nor it is necessary to be physically present in the company you work for when programming. Even though you live in Kosovo, you can work world-class programming, as an independent individual or an employee of a foreign company," says Kadrijaj.

The Girls TECH program is open to girls following Technical profiles, Informatics and Gymnasiums. They should be high school seniors, who have basic skills in the Information Technology, as well as good grades in the previous year of studies.

Starting in May of this year, 15 girls selected to attend Girls TECH will advance their programming knowledge and skills, where by the end of the program, they will have already acquired skills and specialization in several programming languages.

Professionals of KEDS in the relevant fields have already prepared the design and compilation of the program modules and everything is ready to start the implementation.

"We at KEDS have made everything ready to start with the implementation of the program. We equipped the hall with computers and installed the necessary programs. Also, the monitoring and training staff is ready, where in addition to the mobilization of the Department for Quality, Safety, and Training, we also have support in implementation from the IT Department. "

In addition to professional training, after the completion of the program, the doors will be open for employment for the girls who showed great commitment during their training  “Internships in the IT department and the opportunity of employment, will be offered for the best ” say the program implementers.
