With the drop in temperatures, the consumption of electricity is also increasing. Compared to the same period last year, electricity consumption has increased by 12 percent, while at the peak time it has reached 13 percent.

The increase in consumption has started since the beginning of this week due to the cooling of the weather, for which consumers have already started heating with electricity. This record increase in electricity consumption will make it difficult for the country's electricity system to operate.

KEDS/KSCO appeal to the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo not to use electricity for heating, but to find other alternatives where they have the opportunity. At the same time, we call on citizens to save electricity as much as possible, so that we can have an easier winter.

The prices in the international markets are skyrocketing and as a result, during the winter it is necessary to import electricity from abroad to meet the full demand, as the local production does not have sufficient capacity. The lower the demand, the less it is necessary to import electricity. Buying electricity at these prices is very difficult and unaffordable for the local economy.

How to reduce this demand? Avoid heating with electricity, do not turn on lights unnecessarily, use washing machines after 23:00 in the summer season and after 22:00 in the winter season, as well as use the boiler only when needed.

The world is making an appeal to save electricity as much as possible, since we will all soon face a crisis, never seen before. Countries that have practiced energy efficiency in recent years now have lower costs for consumers, but also stable supply. However, the call to act quickly on energy efficiency has never been more appropriate than today.

This appeal is a goal, and the goal must be translated into practice.

Let's save together, because that's the only way our electrical system is not put into serious operational difficulties. Small expressions, but with a big impact! Only by saving can we succeed together!
