KEDS puts in work the first line of 20 kilovolt network in Kosovo
A complete new line will now supply the triangle of the villages of Obiliq, Pristina and Podujeva. It is about the Breznica overhead line, which is the first 20 kilovolt overhead line built in Kosovo that was released these days to work.
At a length of over 15 kilometers, a complete new network was built and 13 new substations were installed. This overhead line that derives from Mazgit of Obiliq and is branched in two directions, from the villages of Pristina towards the east and those from Obiliq and Podujevo to the north direction.
From the new end line of the 20 kV Medium Voltage will directly benefit thousands of inhabitants of these municipalities, located in a hilly-mountainous area. This level of voltage is expected to provide much more quality services and reduce electricity losses.
The earlier line, inherited from the time the distribution was a public asset, was in a very serious and very problematic condition, as there was constant trouble whenever the weather was aggravated. Now in that part everything has changed.
This overhead line is part of KEDS's projects for high voltage rejuvenation and transformation of 10 kV to 20 kV network through the construction of new lines or total rehabilitation and transformation of existing ones.
In addition to overhead line Breznica, KEDS has also built three new overhead lines 20 kV that are expected to be released in work during these days in full functionality such as Runiku, Drenica and Lipjan.
The first interventions were made exactly in the most problematic lines, which often fell as a result of external factors, especially atmospheric ones. Whereas after completing the works in these locations, thousands of customers will benefit directly.
